It is made of sturdy cotton that can be folded and twisted as needed. I went to the parashakti temple nearby and I had no problems with it. It combines well with the the kurta and shawl I was wearing. I looked more Hindu than many of the Hindus there whom were wearing western clothing; except for the priests and a tantrik tamil group that came to visit their ishta dev from Washington DC.
